Hi Jeff, Do you still have the Hawk?
Hi mate. Have you ever found a manual for this version
@@ENGDyna I believe I still have the manual for this model I still have the model .. if u require the manual email me at highflying82@gmail.com and I will reply with images of the manual pages 👍🏻 .edit.. nice pike there in ur avatar pic 👌
@highflying82 haha cheers buddy. This is definitely the HC Hobby version. Buy I believe the eRC apache princess version is the same with slightly altered decals. I have the eRC manual now. Can't find a HC Hobby one. It's strange as technically on the box it would say 1335mm wingspan lol
@@ENGDyna yes 100 percent.. this when I bought it came from kingslyn models it’s a HC hobby B25 .. was originally apache princess scheme 👍🏻 not sure if it’s been updated but this version has servo operated manual retracts rather then retract units
@@highflying82 I sent the email buddy
What paint do you use?
@@daewonbronx8243 generally for foam .. Tamiya .. Or acrylic thinned
Great work there Jeff.......You must have used a few jars of the Tamiya paint on that big one...I think the way you are holding the brushes you were an "Artist" or signwriter in your previous life.....Im waiting to see Part 3.
Thanks buddy .. so far 12 jars out of a total of 32 .. the foam needed 3 coats on fuzz to seal and cover .. wooden deck tan / flat earth / light blue / cockpit green / and varied other jars for details .. thanks for the artist compliment .. I did take art in school a few decades back .. these days I have quite bad jitters and have to use all lumber support I can to steady my hand.. very theroputic and calming .. working on wing section atm part 3 should be around a week till the vid .. happy landing brother 👍🏻👌
@@highflying82 I got "O" levels at school for art along with metalwork many many moons ago.Im a great fan of John Constable who hailed from down your way. Did the pilot cost as much as the plane?? 😄
Great work on a fine model (didn't know there was a kit). Had a ride in the real thing in New Zealand a few years ago. The wings look tiny, but the plane just magically levitated off the ground! You could use thin sheet balsa on the fuselage as the real fuselage is plywood. Super for an electric project. Too cute!!
@@mtacoustic1 thanks for the interest in the model .. my grandfather had a lot of hours flying dragons towards the end of Battle of Britain ferrying atc students across airfields .. lots of lift with 4 wings and plenty of power with the gypsy engines .. imo one of the most beautiful aircraft to fly 👌👍🏻
Nice job on the repaint, never thought of hand painting, looks nice
Cheers Mike .. I have brush painted most of my foam models .. it works well for a solid coverage and to seal the foam .. 👍🏻
Jeff fantastic refurbishment and painting skills, Crazy Eddy likes the new scheme. Jeff in LA USA
Thanks Jeff .. it’s been quite long winded so far with the full strip down but now the biggest parts of the refurb are done I can sail along with the detailing 👍🏻
Looks great mate!
Thanks Alan .. good to hear from u buddy .. hope all is well with u and fam .. hope to catch up at some point 👍🏻👍🏻
Blimey, Jeff!! *Exemplary* work... really and truly a rebuild of a foamie in every sense of the word. I love the pilot's uniform and equipment, too - this model is going to be fantastic. Well done!
Thank you Gina .. pretty much bare bones strip and re.fit .. I couldn’t risk it separating during flight as I’m sure it will be thrown about in flight .. I was too highly impressed with the pilot uniform detailing quite the little art pieces 👍🏻
Nice to see a complete tear down and rebuild. Nice work Jeff 😊
Cheers Roy .. it’s been enjoyable project 👍🏻
Very good job! I have the same plane. I need to go through mine also.
Thanks buddy .. I wouldn’t mind hearing your thoughts on the flight characteristic and ur overall opinion on the HK p40 .. I have heard that there’s a cg shift when gear is retracted??
@@highflying82 check your CG with the landing gear retracted.
Looking good Jeff. What type of epoxy are you using on the foam? Im yet to find a good glue for foam.
Hi Colin .. cheers .. for most of my smaller foamies I would use (premier foam tak) the epoxy I use on bigger surfaces is dev.con .. when mixing for foam I generally add a tiny percent extra epoxy with the hardener to prevent it going crispy over time it stays a little tacky and durable but I have sealed the joints with filler 👍🏻
What was the point of marking the spinner cone and backplate?
Hi Shelby .. I had previously checked all 3 locating points of the spinner to backplate to find the best central rotation with least buckle in the plastic .. these were Known for out of balance spinners .. the marked points were for quick ref to re align at the best point as a starting point when I come to balance the prop and spinner assembly.. 👍🏻
@@highflying82 OK, was very curios about that.
@@shelbyseelbach9568 I would have replaced but at 120mm the only real option is a dynamic carbon spinner and there the cost of the entire model lol .. will see how I get on with balancing this one .. really don’t want a prop 💥
...beautiful work; very nice !!! too keep your bottled paints mixed; drop 2 or 3 'BB's' in each bottle and shake ever so often...no need to open and stir. ..just a thought...👍 have a good one...
@@jcb6713 thanks jcb .. depending on the humidity I generally add some Tamiya thinner to hold off the gumming up as it’s being coated and need to keep mixing every few mins to avoid seperation .. I will keep the ball bearings in mind .. cheers 👍🏻
Nice video Jeff ❤️🙌
@@Emily_xx5 thanks Em .. really enjoying working on this project 👌.. good to hear from you 🎀🌸👍🏻
Great find Jeff, she will look great. 👍🏻
@@DadsRCHangar thanks Mate .. I have had to split the fuzz due to crispy epoxy and I have reinforced the inside of the fuzz and re bonded .. just filling then paint .. should have part2 vid up soon
Hey Jeff very nice plane and also very nice flight. Can you maybe tell us which engine you use in this spitfire? Cheers Ralph
If it’s blue, I would name it Bulldog 🇬🇧
Top scoring British ace flew a P40 in north Africa. And Brits labeled it unsuitable for combat, disrespectfully named it kittyhawk instead of it's name, warhawk. Ungrateful snobs
Neville Duke achieved ace status in a p40 over Africa where it succeeded well for the raf due to its desert air filteration system .. spitfires and hurricane performance and maintenance suffered badly in Africa even when fitted with vokes filters to clean the sand from the air .. the British name most US lend lease aircraft after American cities as Americans named there models after native tribes the p40 was named Kittyhawk after the success of the tomahawk p40b to show appreciation for the first aviation flights made by the Wright brothers in there Wright flier which was named Kittyhawk ..
@@highflying82 upon receiving their first P-40s and testing them, the Brits disrespectfully claimed them unsuitable for combat. They changed the name warhawk to kittyhawk as an appearance to compliment but actually a feined insult. It is truly karma that their number one ace, regardless of the theater of operations, flew the P-40, the most underrated fighter
@@highflying82 Clive Caldwell also flew the P-40 in Africa where he became Australia's number one ace pilot. Later he flew spitfires in the Pacific. Although one of the P-40's strong points was it's durability/reliability it's air filter is not likely the main reason for it's success. In production before and after WW2, third most produced US fighter, third most combat kills following the P-51 and P-47. And not all the Brits were clouded by pride, there was a large amount in RAF leadership that pushed for the P-40 to replace the Hurricane as the backbone of the RAF
hi there whats this music in the first part called? love that scheme btw, P-40 rules!
Hi thanks for the interest and comment 👍🏻 ruclips.net/video/Az1wnv_2AuQ/видео.htmlsi=YtVZV-Nml9ev5gR_ Nutron musics FIRE AND ICE
@@highflying82 I have build 4 P-40 1/72 scale at the moment and got some in the pipeline for some nice schemes aswell.
@@roarexenlI used to build static kits also .. most of my kits now reside at raf brenzett museum .. enjoy ur builds 👌👍🏻
Awesome Jeff , this will be a stunner my friend when its finished. Quick question mate , will you be doing a step by step video of the make over ? 👍👌
Hi Sean .. yea I will do short updates on the stages and do a complete time lapse vid also at the end 👌👍🏻
What a find, Jeff! An aircraft you've hankered after was sort of under your nose all that time... "Everything comes to he who waits" as they say. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this progresses.
Thanks Gina .. I’m very happy it popped up for sale .. can’t believe the mass and size of the airframe .. if it were gas a 20cc would be about the engine size for the airframe .. I’m looking fwd to getting this one on the go .. need to finish the marchetti airframe then I will move on to kitty hawk 👍🏻
@@highflying82 Very cooooollll...
I owned one of these. It was a great flier, only fault I suffered was very weak (plastic) gimbals in the undercarriage causing it to collapse. I even think I have a brand new set of spare propeller blades somewhere. I'll enjoy your re vamp
@@KevinWesley-xe3nu thank you so much for the comment .. I’m in the midst of re bonding the airframe after splitting it apart due to old crispy epoxy and making sure all bond is good .. thanks for the heads up with the retracts I do have spare Units of the same sizes with metal trunnions.. it has the upgraded gear but I will prob order some newer damped oleo’s .. I am replacing all servos with metal gear units .. thanks for letting me know it’s a nice flier .. u never know what to expect in till it’s up and airborne 👌👍🏻👍🏻
A nice airplane Jeff, nice purchase! Cheers 👍💪✌
Thanks Rob .. I’m extremely happy to have aquired one 👌👍🏻
Looking nice Jeff, you were lucky to get that one,HK get a run on a plane then you never see it again 👍😎
I wanted it badly when they were still at HK .. then within a few months they were completely gone .. I nearly got the bare airframe from HK china when they were disappearing but postage was astranomical .. happy to have this one and looking fwd to the kitty hawk conversion 👌👍🏻
@@highflying82 HK is a bit of a nightmare they bring something nice in then discontinue it,I'll bet it's going to look great when finished 😎
@bobbarlow1 well there’s no spares left Lol searched to try and tap up any spare part I can but everything gone so it’s a one hit wonder lol .. got all the paint Bob so far fuzz stripped and seperated at seems as old epoxy gone crispy got a fully scale D.I.D pilot with life vest and parachute .. lots to do but I’m sure will be theroputic adventure

Great looking P40, going to look great, Jeff in LA USA
Cheers Jeff .. the raf kitty hawk was always my favourite as a child at warbird airshows 👌👍🏻
Your shop is organized very nice Jeff. Love p 40. I've never seen this from hobby king. I got the 2 meter BLITZ RC p 40. It's huge. Nice acquisition 😊
@@reckemroysrc3764 thanks Roy .. this model was on the market around 2005 and quickly disappeared.. She looks great Jeff, look forward to see her in the air 👍🏻
Jeff great B17 to work with, Here Kitty Kitty. Jeff in LA USA
Love the B-17!
What about Buck Clevens' B-17 from Masters Of The Air?
So many to choose from, I'll sit back and see what you come up with. Thanks, it will be a nice one for sure 👍💪✌
Being from Tennessee, I'm a little partial to 'Memphis Belle'; the first B17 to complete 25 combat missions; which allowed the crew to come home 😎
I grew up on the movie .. Sally b at duxford fairly local to me played the role of Memphis belle in the movie as well as fuddy duddy and mother and country 👍🏻👌
Actually the B-17 "Hell's Angels" 41-24577 was the first B-17 to complete 25 missions. But the name was too controversial so they used Memphis Belle to raise money back home. So it became the first to complete 25 missions AND RETURN HOME. Hell's Angels signed up for another tour after its 25 missions - and went on to fly 48 missions total.
There's so many B 17s to choose from as a scheme i personally might go with the scheme of the plane that had the mid air collision with the p 61 at the air show in Texas a couple year's ago. It was a beautiful plane 😊
JEFF. The name of the plane I speak of was the Texas Raiders
That’s not a bad idea there’s a lot of meaning behind that particular b17 with the voluntary confederate airforce crew that restored and flew that aircraft .. such a terrible shame .. real aviators
There's a bunch of RUclips videos of her and it's awesome crew. Have fun with the project Jeff 😊
@@reckemroysrc3764thanks for the suggestion will deff look into that 👌👍🏻
Sorry I meant a mid air with a p 63 king cobra
Cool beans man! Good addition to the hangar and thanks for sharing!
Thanks Eric .. looking fwd to this one 👌
@@highflying82 should be a fun project!

What motor and fan are you running?
Hi, is your Thunder Tiger Challenger's gearbox a ball differential ?
@@SterSun I’m sorry I wouldn’t know the car belongs to a friend
No. It has a solid axle.
Hi Jeff, would you still have the manual for the JP?
@@hughsysmailbox I’m pretty sure I still have it in my pile of manuals still have the model also .. what info would u like from it ?
@@highflying82 Thanks Jeff, I also acquired one of these JP Albatross but without any info from a guy who can’t fly anymore due to Parkinson’s, I promised him I’d fly it and send him some pics vids etc, is there any chance you would be kind enough to give me a copy of it somehow? Many thanks Steve
@@hughsysmailbox .. hi Steve I have located the manual I can provide whatever info u need it u can email me Highflying82@gmail.com and I can reply with a picture of every page so U can print and have a manual .. as I remember .. havnt flown it for while .. there was a significant amount of up thrust that needed adjusting .. there is a wooden washer plate behind the motor which determines thrust angle and I had to adapt it .. is your albatross a built model or unbuilt .. I was running on 2200 3s lipo on stock brushed motor and stock prop had plenty enough to fly nicely .. as I remember it did very well slope soaring with thermal and lift .. just be careful launching in strong wind as if wind grabs a wing the rudder won’t recover the model .. all in all a nIce comfortable flier .. find a field with long grass and do some gentl throwing glide tests without power to test the center of gravity make sure it’s balanced ..throw into wind gently for some glide tests .. I probably have my inner fuzz marked with where I had my batt if that helps .. email me and I will supply the manual pics 👌
Thank you so much Jeff, that’s is very kind of you. And thanks for your valuable advice, I’ll email you. Again many thanks 🙏
Cool. I did something similar on my R50 a few years ago. I have an inline blower (ChillOut Systems "Clubsport") that produces 180CFM routed via silicone hose between the center fresh air intake and my DDM CAI box, so all the fresh air exits right beside the K&N filter. It's wired to my battery (there's an in-line fuse) and I activate it manually with a switch inside the cabin when it's really hot out and the engine feels like it's lugging. I live in Arizona and it gets extremely hot here, so I wanted something to help prevent heat soak at lower speeds. It might make an extra horsepower or two in boost (it really forces a lot of air into the CAI box), but my goal was just to help preserve the power I've got. I also have a carbon fiber R53 hood to let more fresh air into the engine compartment, and a R53 throttle body (and a whole bunch of other mods).
@@honestreviewer3283 thanks for the info 👍🏻 the main issue I found with the r50 is there is no route into the bay for much cool air only a small slot across the grill .. I was suffering badly with heat soak when the car was sitting in traffic and was figuring how I could pull cold air in .. the cold air feed does work but power supply will only run for 10mins and the stock car batt does not provide high enough C rating to run the edf sensibly .. next mod is a r53 bonnet as this will help massively with airflow .. cheers mate 👍🏻

Nice new acquisition, Jeff! You've really got the BIG model bug now! Btw, did you ever finish that Dumas Dragon Rapide build from yonks ago?
Cheers Gina .. I’m trying to push myself a little beyond my skill factor with the big airobatic models .. the Dumas dragon is boxed up atm and not forgotten .. need to source some little reduction drive motors for it and needs covering 👍🏻
Thanks for the explanations Jeff and your right, just jump back on it, true! Cheers 👍💪✌
